Om du inte betalar för produkten är du produkten. Precis som AI idag gick de här plattformarna i flera år på riskkapital. Nu måste de leverera siffror, och det är därför tjänsterna blir sämre och vi hela tiden hör om vad de gör med vår data.
De bygger också på dark patterns: gränssnitt gjorda för att manipulera snarare än tjäna. Det vägrar jag stödja.

Jag bor utomlands och vill fortfarande dela mitt liv med de jag känner, och de jag kanske kommer att lära känna online (jag älskar fortfarande att nätverka), utan att lämna över det till en miljardärs algoritm. Jag tror på det fria och öppna internet, så jag finns på Fediversen: tusentals oberoende servrar (Mastodon, Pleroma…) som pratar med varandra, som e-post. Ingen enskild ägare, ingen muromgärdad trädgård, inga annonser.

I've stopped using my accounts on the big social media platforms. Briefly, why:
If you're not paying for the product, you are the product. Like AI today, these platforms ran for years on VC money. Now they have to make their numbers, which is why they keep getting worse and why we keep hearing about what they do with our data.
They also rely on dark patterns: interfaces built to manipulate rather than serve. I won't support that.

I live abroad and still want to share my life with the people I know, and the ones I might come to know online (I still love networking), without handing it over to a billionaire's algorithm. I believe in the free and open internet, so I'm on the Fediverse: thousands of independent servers (Mastodon, Pleroma…) that all talk to each other, like email. No single owner, no walled garden, no ads.

* I had a package arrive to my home in Portugal while I was on vacation
* No means of contacting them to add payola to have it reshipped, no means of really knowing what's inside
* So I Uber to a weird industrial area in between Sintra and São Domingos de Rana
* Nice driver, nice service while in there.. but it's warm, it's early and I'm beat... so I just flip up the phone and Uber defaults to "take me to HOME from current location"
* Driver arrives
* ... turns out I still hadn't renamed HOME... it drove me to my in-laws where I lived 3 months ago instead of... instead of taking me to where I ordered the original trip???
* So... I siezed the opportunity and went from central Alcabideche to CascaiShopping by foot... went shopping and then I went home...
For lunch and dinner I made homemade quick seekh #kebab (mince, spices, yoghurt, roasted garlic sauce, fresh veg)
.. and we decided to take a spontaneous nightly walk and found a band, Trio Maravilha, playing dancing tunes to a mostly senior audience. It was cozy and wholesome so we stuck around for the vibes before going home.

Last day of vacation, tomorrow we head back to Parede.
Just had a round at the beach... it was very warm...aaaand now it's time to head somewhere to get lunch. Will try to scramble ingredients to celebrate Midsommar here later.

I did go to the beach today and had my first swim in the ocean of the year. Also had a caipirinha at the local pub.. still reading the Kaj Karlsson novel.. even did a bit of coding in the morning with the aid of a Vodafone dongle. Science!

Yesterday I went from the home in Parede to Zavial in the south of Portugal. A small, fairly secluded beach where we know the keepers of a vacation house that they kindly offer once per year to my in-laws.
We found a mouse running around inside yesterday.
As a retrospective I guess I only really want to move my body more. The IT-guy lifestyle is a bit too extreme.. I'll have to figure something out (that isn't Padel, don't even try). Might be time to plan a trip back to Sweden as well.. haven't gone back since I moved to Portugal.

I got to play some Misery with the gang today for a while again.. we got assaulted by giant crawfish.. it was an experience.
I'm just taking the time out to mess about and enjoy coding with a little toy #Lua project. We'll see if I ever surface it as a project.
Other than that my partner just pulled her second and final set of wisdom teeth so if I post food in the coming 48h it's probably just going to be soup and the likes... I'm up for it though! Who doesn't love a good soup?

Ladies and gentlemen...The Weekend!
I've been coding today, working on some SSR approaches I haven't tried before and it's been quite fun! Also went for a walk to the local LiDL and got some sun on me.
Then I got to improvise dinner for @dotmargui ! I made her some thin steaks with Svartrot (Black Salsify, Pseudopodospermum hispanicum) and a butter and dill sauce. And for dessert I made french toast with a homemade cherry compote and a mix of greek yoghurt and fresh raspberries.
