Om du inte betalar för produkten är du produkten. Precis som AI idag gick de här plattformarna i flera år på riskkapital. Nu måste de leverera siffror, och det är därför tjänsterna blir sämre och vi hela tiden hör om vad de gör med vår data.
De bygger också på dark patterns: gränssnitt gjorda för att manipulera snarare än tjäna. Det vägrar jag stödja.

Jag bor utomlands och vill fortfarande dela mitt liv med de jag känner, och de jag kanske kommer att lära känna online (jag älskar fortfarande att nätverka), utan att lämna över det till en miljardärs algoritm. If you're not paying for the product, you are the product. Like AI today, these platforms ran for years on VC money. Now they have to make their numbers, which is why they keep getting worse and why we keep hearing about what they do with our data.
They also rely on dark patterns: interfaces built to manipulate rather than serve. I won't support that.

It is an interesting trajectory I see many diving further into and it is one that I see myself doing.
I enjoy the fact that I do a lot of personal projects in TypeScript now and I do kind of feel like I never got to truly yield the power or career experience a lot of JS-centric devs did... I stuck it out with WordPress and the likes.
And here we are. Laravel is fantastic. PHP has less pain points and the DX just surpasses a lot of JS framework stuff by a long shot.

Just entered all of my walking data so far for 2025 and all I can say is:
I've been waiting for the order to arrive since Monday. I ordered from Amazon.
The reason for buying it was simply that I got a new job and the battery on my Pixel 6A was horrible at this stage.
I bought the Samsung Cover 7 because I wanted to return to my defiant approach to smartphones, which is to get rugged budget/mid-range ones because they're bulky yet trustworthy. I won't feel as tempted to waste life away on a machine that sits heavy in the hand, and that doesn't have perfect edge detection and zero peculiarities.
Before the Pixel 6A, I had two generations of Ulephone rugged phones, and I actually really enjoyed them. Once I got a Pixel, I became a bit spoiled with ease of use. Wouldn't say it profoundly increased my smartphone usage, but going back to a rugged phone sure won't work against it if you ask me. Besides, it's yet another incentive to make 2025 the year when I start taking my trekking more seriously.

I was always a good boy back in Sweden and had some simple means of navigating crisis. Interestingly enough, I had emergency equipment stuck in customs on their way to me as it happened.
It happened May 28th at 11:33, my partner was on the phone with a friend AND we checked our breaker box so we conclusively knew that it wasn't in the home only and then asked Catarina (colleague/bestie of my beloved @dotmargui ) and so I posted in the Facebook Group PortugalSvenskar within minutes... Which might stand as the reason why Swedish state media wanted to talk to me about it 😂.
