Late night update before I hit the bed again!
So after the really nice burgers at Ground Burger we walked back to
#Gulbenkian Park for a brief moment and then started looking at what other museums were open.
We saw that the
#Banksy Museum was open and headed there.
And what can I say? I was the biiiggest fan of Banksy in my youth. I was a huge fan of Graffiti and read Toy's Digest, followed Akay (the "Swedish Banksy", arguably).. had my little blackbook and painted down at our local shooting range where it was permitted...
...but this? This felt like all the works by Banksy commodified into Temu tier installations with a gift shop attached. It was interesting to revisit the art of my "old hero"... but it also felt like it wasn't a fitting environment at all. The point of Banksy lies in the subversive nature of its street art... to oogle at remakes and videos just make it feel really astro turfed. Solid 5/10
We then went to Hygge, which I think is a Danish cafeteria strain. People working there were great and all but I had a ~3€ "spicy watermelon juice" and honestly: The "flavored refreshments" you get at Honest Greens with eternal free refill tastes better, is more interesting and refreshing, served colder and comes in several varieties with said order. Getting said juice and coffee took 15 minutes and we waited even more for a square cinnamon bun that was...well... passable. 5/10
Then we got tired of the tourist experience and decided on watching a movie. We asked Margarida, who was super tired and coming down with the beginnings of a cold... but she gathered herself and joined ranks.
I picked the movie, and knowing the backstory and legacy of Troma Films I just had to pick The Toxic Avenger. I remember the AVGN episode featuring the creator, Lloyd Kauffman.
There were the three of us, a couple and a dad with his kids in the entire cinema... 😅
It had 6.2/10 on iMDB.... I was in the mood to have a good time at a supposedly tacky and "joyfully shitty movie"... ended up giving it a 7/10
Extremely juvenile internet informed and unhinged millenial humor. If you're a 90s kid that read comics and you don't mind some good old B-movie horror, violence and profanity it's fun and surprisingly good plot-wise... and also filmed surprisingly well for what it is!
We had a good laugh and then we walked home.
All in all a great night with my good friend and my beloved!
It happened to coincide with the anniversary of the day that Cliff Burton passed, my old childhood hero. Rest in peace! 🤘🤟
My attempt at Work/Life balance this #friday night will consist of playing a new game I bought for the Switch which is none other than Surviving The Aftermath developed by Paradox. I also made puffed rice treats for the family and me. I'm sticking with white chocolate for allergy reasons... but it's good too!

Two years since leaving Sweden for Portugal. Time flies.
The bad: navigating my field in the age of AI. Not AI itself, but the warped corporate expectations. Juniors pushed below the surface, seniors expected to be generalist expert ICs. Health scares with Margarida's family. Haven't met anyone except my mom, dad and two friends since leaving Sweden. Weather giving out. Won't comment on politics.
The good: me and Margarida are close to getting our house plans in order. We have the money, the bank statements, doing everything to find our dream home. Things are good between us. We can weather whatever comes our way.
Hope to spend 2026 in our own home.
I did my hours of work, got a shipment of snus, kept working until done, took the trash out and went for a walk, bought some cream and mushrooms.
Made carrot soup with creamy mushrooms on toast.
Then, at 22:45, I finished the first book of #Dune, finally.
Listening to Brian Eno and waiting for my Aquilea Sueño Compact to kick in so I can dream of all things #Dune.

Feeling some funk as #Toby has left the building, my dear old friend stayed from last wednesday until today and yesterday was the last day we hung out.
I figured I'll quickly summarize some of the fun we had yesterday, as it was fun on our terms, as per usual.
He showed up and I had some lunch with the family before we discussed going to the coastline... but the weather was quite crappy so we decided to visit Casa Do Fauno in #Sintra instead! It was this lovely medieval/viking themed pub. I had some lovely Rooibos/Jasmin/Hibiscus tea (I'm having a "White Month" between the 24th of Sept and my partners birthday in a month) and a "Hobbit Toast" which consisted of mushrooms, olives, cheese and tomato pesto.. served with some potato chips... it had no business being as good as it was!!! Whomever invented it and whomever made it for us: We appreciate you! And they played Wardruna in there which me and Margarida are seeing in Porto in December.
I asked a waiter if they sold #mead there and he said that the store upstairs has bottles.. so I bought two!
We then took a really nice walk in the woodsy area between Casa Do Fauno and the National Palace of Sintra. With 40 minutes left we just bought tickets and sprinted through it in quick fashion... but it was interesting!
Eventually we took an Uber back to the place I've called home for the last almost 2 years and Toby played some more #IntoTheBreach while we talked about life and I arranged my upstairs office area.
We thought we wouldn't go for dinner initially but eventually we decided to be spontaneous. I told him of Bacalhau a Brás and #Toby decided to try it. I saw an order so weird that I had to try it. Steak with fries and "Passion fruit & lime sauce".. I think the place is called O Viriato, we ordered with Uber Eats.
And well.

The Bacalhau a Brás was good!... but I think Xana makes it better here at home.

Me and my buddy #Toby are exploring Lisbon together today.
We took an Uber to Marques de Pombal and then we walked to Gulbenkian Park and visited the Modern Art Museum. When we arrived it started to pour down rain so I bought a relatively costly but really good looking teal umbrella that matched my teal hoodie.
And then we went to Ground Burger nearby and I had a Veggie Burger, some fries and a non-alcoholic (and teal!) beer. Surprised by the quality of the food!
Oh well.. on we go with our exploration!
Margarida had a game planned with family and Catarina and then Toby came along and we fell obliged to have him experience it too.
Initially I was not really in the mood, you know, immediately after a long day of work.
But then the energy filled the stadium and the game started off quite intense.
First they scored, keeping us on the edge for revenge and in the end we passed it, got to 2-1 and VAR saved us from a tie towards the end too.
Could've been a better game, sure, but I had lots of fun with my loved one and my old friend!
When I came home I had some of the leftover bolognese. Now I'm gonna brush my teeth, wash my face and have some well deserved sleep!
Yesterday a very old friend from my home country of Sweden bothered to travel all the way to Portugal to hang out. It's the one and only #Toby!
Yesterday when he arrived here we cooked for Margaridas family.. we made like 5-6l of Bolognese. It was delicious!
And today, as I'm working, he arrived in the afternoon and we've just been hanging out like we used to, playing one of my all time favorite games: #IntoTheBreach
Got Spotify very early, still in college. Beat the convenience of piracy. Then the frustration started: tracks disappearing from playlists without warning. "This song is no longer available in your region." Over and over for years.
Streaming means you own nothing. Cancel and everything vanishes. Meanwhile Spotify pays $0.003-0.005 per stream, introduced a 1000-stream threshold (withholding around $47M from small artists), fills playlists with ghost artists ("Perfect Fit Content"), and CEO Daniel Ek poured $702M into AI combat drones while songwriters can't pay rent.
But what actually broke me was the algorithm. I used to take music VERY seriously. Digging through obscure bands, buying records at shows. Spotify's recommendation engine buried that person under curated mediocrity.
So I bought a FiiO Snowsky Echo Mini DAP. Tiny dedicated music player, dual CS43131 DACs, plays FLAC/DSD256, microSD slot, 15hr battery, under $50. No algorithm. No recommendations. No disappearing tracks. Just music.
When Tomas "Tompa" Lindberg died in September 2025, I went to Bandcamp and bought Disfear's "Live The Storm." Buying that record felt right in a way adding it to a playlist never would have.

I went to the #Benfica game today at the stadium with Margarida, grandma Lita, her mom, dad and her bestie Catarina.
I had a grand old time even though the game could've been better in the end. We tied 1-1
Even though football hasn't been a part of my soul in my youth I still admire the sport and the camaraderie, if you will.⚽️
A nice cold Sagres and a Bifana is never wrong as a small highlight of the week.
Ordered a proper late night dinner after the game and Margarida had a salad

Meeting all my company buddies for the first time (except for the marketing team that I met in Denmark a month prior)
Yeah, I've met tons of amazing people, had great food and a good time. I'll be packing up and heading back home in the morning.
Now we know conclusively that the dates from Dave & Jons with Chokladbollar-flavor indeed does taste the same as the real deal!
...And I can't stop coming up with scenarios and putting it to the test in areas where we could improve documentation, write tests for WordPress themes... so far so good... so far I'm impressed
